About me
With four years of post-qualification experience, I offer therapeutic support to children, young people, adults, and families. While I have developed expertise in bereavement support, my practice also addresses a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including trauma, anxiety, developmental concerns, and family dynamics. One of my key specialisms is Art Therapy, which provides a safe, non-verbal outlet for children and young people to explore complex emotions. Art therapy allows individuals to express themselves creatively when words may not fully capture their feelings, fostering emotional resilience and healing.
Although grief and loss are central to my work, I adopt a holistic, client-centred approach, adapting my therapeutic methods to suit each individual. I help clients manage a variety of issues, including stress, anxiety, trauma, and behavioural concerns, using evidence-based modalities such as psychodynamic therapy, trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and solution-focused techniques.
My background in developmental psychology enables me to understand how children and young people process emotions at different stages of growth. This insight allows me to provide age-appropriate strategies to support emotional regulation and resilience, particularly during periods of change or crisis. In addition to my work with children and young people, I have extensive experience working with adults and families. My time in palliative care settings, such as Sobell House and Bluebell Lodge, has deepened my understanding of the emotional needs of adults facing loss and illness. I also support families dealing with complex grief responses, helping them improve communication and emotional support.
My experience working in crisis situations has honed my ability to manage intense emotional responses such as anger, confusion, and withdrawal. I also work with families to enhance communication and understanding, strengthening relationships and supporting emotional healing within the family unit. Building trust and safety is central to my practice. I strive to create a non-judgmental space where clients can express themselves freely and explore their emotions at their own pace.
Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse populations, including in voluntary roles with organisations like Thera Trust, Arts Connect, SLV, and the SHOUT Crisis Text Line. I have also collaborated with schools to support children's mental health, ensuring holistic care alongside healthcare and education professionals.
Overall, my approach is grounded in empathy, flexibility, and creativity, with a deep commitment to supporting emotional wellbeing.
